A willow hedge and a tawny owl

It was only just above freezing but Nina and I were lucky to work in the sunshine and the sky was blue. As we worked on the living willow hedge, there was a big ruckus, lots of squawking from some jays. The answer was that they were peturbed by a tawny owl hiding in the Holly trees towards the end of the reserve. We were lucky to see it. Eventually it floated off and we resumed work on the willow fence.
