Yuletide 2011

We had great weather for our Yuletide celebration. It was mainly clear, cold and even a bit of mid-winter sun shone down on us.

We cooked on the fire – Ros made some great Roman barley soup and I burned some cheese rolls. It’s amazing what you’ll eat when you’re cold and hungry!

The kids strung some popcorn to feed the birds and decorate our little elder shrub. We also tied on some cotton strips and made wishes for the New Year. Beautiful evergreens were collected and made some lovely wreathes to decorate our doors at home. The kids got busy building a ‘drawbridge’ for a shelter.

Before we packed up and went home, we (adults) all drank some tasty, warm Wassail and the wood echoed with our singing. Deck the Halls and Oh Christmas Tree seemed appropriate.
